For everything a time and a purpose
which God has created and only God can know.
For everything an end and a beginning
from birth to death, at God's will we go.
Taken so young, how very cruel it seems.
When life looks so rosy and the world is a garden,
There's hope and there's promise...when you're not yet nineteen.
The laughter of youth and the carefree abandon,
The football and mateship, the work and the fun,
Each day a challenge to meet and to conquer,
Until a grey shadow blots out the sun.
So strong and good looking, so fresh and alive,
Spreading humour around his friends and at home.
We mourn for our loved one and question the reason,
But for what reason, God knows alone.
For God has a purpose, a reason, a time,
No matter how cruel his decisions may seem,
We think of him now and we miss the bright laughter,
Of our dearly loved Michael who was only eighteen...

If you read this poem in one of the homes of my family you will find a couple of lines with slightly different wording. I was a lapsed Roman Catholic at the time of this beloved cousins death and now as a christian hold some different views on sovereignty, death and the hereafter.
My cousin Michael was killed in a car accident 12/01/1985

This is a line I hope I will remember. It's so difficult to lose those we love, but especially when we are losing so much of what they would have been, as well as losing what they are.
What a heartfelt post from your heart. Thank you for sharing with all of us.

It is tremendously sad when a young person loses their life.
Some things are just plain hard to fathom and understand, but I am thankful for our loving Father, Who is always good, not matter what or how things seem to us.
Thanks for sharing this with us Ruby.
Blessings...
