My mother
Thankyou Lord for my mother,
I always loved her
but not until I married,
bore and lost a child,
fed babies through the night,
washed endless nappies,
wiped bottoms and runny noses,
mended wounds,
watched anxiously over little sick ones,
experiencd the great joys
and the desperate lows of motherhood,
that I really appreciated her.

I always loved my mom too; but only found how much I wanted to be like her when life's pressures made me realise how strong she must have been all those years.
This is so poignantly true, that it brought tears. Thank God for this heritage we have in our mothers, that as life wears at us we can find comfort in their daily, lifelong grace.
